New rules making it more difficult for criminals to sell stolen goods take effect starting Sept. 1, Albertans selling restricted metals for scrap must show ID and dealers are required to record transactions. One of our directors has checked with one of the major scrap dealers in the province. A camera takes a picture of the vehicle entering the scale, liscence plate and drivers liscence are recorded. In fact to date already, individuals in two stolen vehicles with scrap metal were apprehended trying to sell stolen scrap metal.
