The world is abound now with scammers taking advantage of the Covid-19 pandemic. The best piece of advise we can give you, is don't panic, take a step back and think about what is going on, don't give out any information to any one you don't reach out to. Scammers are going to play on your fears, this is your Utility Company, if you don't pay we a are going to cut off utilities. This is your bank, or Revenue Canada, you owe money. The big message coming out of this pandemic, is that all businesses are going to have some tolerence and understanding. If you are going to have trouble with money through this, reach out to your vendors and arrange an alternate.
You are also going to have a lot of fake charities and people pretending to be government agencies, asking for personal information. Do not click on an email link. Back out of your mail, Research the companies properly before giving any information.
We have lived through alot of turbulent times, The interest rates of the 80's, BSE, the 2008 mortgage crisis, 911, this is another hurtle in life and we will get through it. Attached is a CBC news article about some of the frauds. Take care stay safe and we will see you on the other side.
