Alberta’s RCMP has officially launched a brand-new mobile app for iOS and Android devices. The new app allows Albertans to stay informed with quick and easy access to what’s happening in their community via newsfeed while also providing access to crime reporting, detachment locations, crime mapping, and statistics.
Alberta Provincial Rural Crime Watch Association, in partnership with the Alberta RCMP, strives to promote crime prevention through communication, support, and programs. The introduction of the new app provides another tool for Albertans to utilize to help keep their community safe.
The importance of reporting crime
RCMP always encourages Albertans to remain vigilant and report crime. By reporting less serious crime (select property crimes under $5000) online, emergency dispatchers and first responders are able to focus their time on high-priority calls. An added benefit to reporting crime directly through the app is the ability to include photos of the stolen or lost property in the report. These reports are incredibly beneficial to RCMP as they are used in crime analysis and can assist investigators in establishing patterns and trends, ultimately leading them to repeat offenders. These reports can also help with decision-making on where or how to deploy resources, ensuring they are in those areas that require them the most.
Keep your community safe
Along with the ability to report crime through the app, it also provides access to partner law enforcement services, mental health supports, Crime Stoppers, and links to Alberta RCMP social media accounts.
It is important to note that although the new app provides links directly to RCMP social media, this app will not replace the existing website, social media feeds, or other information sources. In addition, the app will not be replacing other methods of crime reporting, engagement, or emergency assistance. Albertans should remember that social media posts or other third-party crime apps are not appropriate ways to report a crime.

- For emergencies or if you see a crime in progress, phone 9-1-1
- For non-emergency property crimes, you can file your report online through the Alberta RCMP app or contact your nearest RCMP detachment
- If you have information regarding a crime and you wish to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), online at www.P3Tips.com, or by using the P3 Tips app
-For scams and fraud, contact your local detachment and the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at www.antifraudcentre-centreantifraude.ca

Report crime online!
The RCMP are encouraging all Albertans to report eligible crimes online (select property crimes under $5,000). Reporting less serious crimes online helps emergency dispatch and frontline members focus their time on high-priority calls. It provides a convenient way to share photos to the RCMP as well. These reports assist in crime analysis, aid in establishing trends and patterns, and ultimately leads investigators to the chronic offenders. It also assists in making decisions about how and where to deploy resources. Crimes reported online will be taken just as seriously as crime reported in any other way.
