Project Lock Up

Break and enters happen too frequently in rural Alberta communities. That is why an initiative has been implemented to respond to increased property crimes. Project Lock Up brings together law enforcement and citizen-led stakeholder groups to help prevent crime in rural Alberta communities.

  • Alberta Provincial Rural Crime Watch Association
  • Alberta RCMP
  • Alberta Sheriffs
  • Alberta Commercial Vehicle Enforcement
  • Alberta Fish and Wildlife Enforcements
  • Alberta Peace Officers
  • Criminal Intelligence Services Alberta
  • Citizens on Patrol

Project Lock Up allows law enforcement and crime prevention groups to interact with victims of property crime to help them prevent any further break and enters or thefts. The data from calls to police are reviewed to identify the areas where break and enters occur most often. That intelligence gathering is used to identify the hardest hit areas to help those who need assistance in improving their property security and determining patrol routes. Project Lock Up encourages all Albertans to lock up their valuables, tools and possessions.

And by helping victims, this program also builds trust between citizens and law enforcement.

Alberta Provincial Rural Crime Watch is continuing to engage in programs that will provide tools to all Albertans to make our communities safer.
